I have a 91-AD (I guess technically a 91A with the D-Star circuitry added).

Using ICOM batteries (not after-market), it sometimes shuts down after I release the PTT -- even on a freshly charged battery). It also happens with the W&W after-market batteries. This happens more on digital mode than analog mode, but does happen on both. It seems to happen more after a longish transmission than after a shortish transmission, but does happen on both. It typically starts happening within about 15 minutes of starting to use a freshly charged battery.

I have two of the standard BP-217s (one that came with the radio, one that I bought later). Both were charged for 14 or 15 hours before their first use. I also have two of the W&W replacements -- again both charged 12-14 hours before first use.

I charge using the standard BP-167A/D that came with the radio. When I charge them, I can see the battery display cycling through its two indicators as described in the manual (pg. 10) and I leave it charging until the indicators are no longer showing. The radio is turned off when I charge the battery.

I did notice that the battery display goes from both indicators on to only one indicator on when I'm transmitting.

The problem only happens when I release the PTT, it doesn't happen when I have the PTT pressed and am talking.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong?
